It’s being called the biggest jump in home sales since 2006. The housing market Wilmington has been waiting for is here and Craig Stevens founder of Stevens Fine Homes was ready. That’s because back in the calm before the storm when no one was looking, Stevens and his team were busy innovating. He knew a more efficient system would be needed to keep up with demand and meet buyers where the market stands. The company re-invented the entire building process and a new Stevens brand was created. Its name, “A Better Way to Build Your Home”.
Currently starting three new homes per week and building in eight different communities, the Stevens Fine Homes “A Better Way to Build Your Home” model seems to be working. In the middle of a seller’s market, buyers are getting into their dream house as quickly as 120 days.
The new streamlined seven-step building process includes a personalized project management team who stays with the home buyer every step of the way to ensure the building process runs smoothly and on schedule. It’s the Stevens Fine Homes new Gold Standard of customer service.
“The team at Stevens Fine Homes has made every effort to ensure our home building experience is as exciting and stress free as it should be,” said new homeowner, Daniel Fitzgerald.
As an upshot of the “A Better Way to Build Your Home” model, Stevens Fine Homes introduced a fresh new website and a revolutionary design process called “Create Your Home”. This user-friendly online design program is making the overwhelming process of deciding things like countertops and flooring a whole lot easier.
With the help of design firm TEAL out of Raleigh, the program has for home buyers neat, current and trending design packages and selection offerings. From the convenience of their own computer, buyers can choose their color schemes, exterior facades, and a la carte upgrades. An estimate of cost and virtual renderings can be generated to see selections in full view.
“My husband and I enjoyed using this to design our home while also being budget conscious. We were able to pick custom upgrades and see the difference in price,” said Stevens customer, Alissa Cole.
Craig Stevens, well known for being a leader in the industry, was inducted this year into the prestigious Hall of Fame by Wilmington-Cape Fear Home Builders Association. Adjusting to market changes is Stevens’ specialty. In 2008 when the market tanked, Stevens did something few other builders could: recorded a growth in sales and even added jobs to the economy. Since then, Stevens has powered on, sailing through a choppy market with smart innovation and a knack for adaptability.
“Our local market, as with every market, has its highs and lows. When the market is down, I am betting that it will soon rebound, and when the market is red hot, I am betting that it will slow down,” said Stevens. “I have a very simple philosophy that has never failed me, look for quality communities and build quality homes in them, priced where your everyday working family can afford to buy and live comfortably.”
Stevens continually maintains a pipeline of quality communities with furnished model homes open seven days a week. Buyers may choose from an array of available inventory homes or choose a home site and build a floor plan personalized to their taste.
Stevens Fine Homes has built close to 3,000 homes and climbing since 1993. A brand new state-of-the-art headquarters and design studio is in the works with a grand opening expected this summer.
